On the topic of gaming engines for visualisations, this might be an interesting read regarding the Oblivion engine. It is still pretty raw by the looks of it, but could have potential

I've been having a little bit of a look at this myself at home when I've had a free moment, but havent had too much progress yet.

The digital urban guys have a few other interesting things on their site regarding visualisations that might be worth a flick through.

Wow.  I could see some useful applications for this in our industry.  I wonder how easy it is to use.  After all, not many of us have the technical background to script some of the nifty stuff that makes these engines so dramatic.

Has anyone tried a demo of it yet?

Ive played with it with minor sucess, actually it was more just working out the level editor at first, and started playing with importing objects, though been too busy to do anything significant. I'll keep you up to date if I have any further luck
