The only way I know to do that is to partition your hard drive and then install a duel boot operating system. This allows you to choose what operating system to start you computer in during the boot sequence. I haven't set a computer up like this in a while I just try to avoid Vista.

Hi, Is there any way to run windows XP in a laptop which is already installed by Vista?? Many programs do not support Vista!! XP is a must to keep wheels in motion! All comments are welcome. What (specifically) won't work in Vista? I run Vista in both the 32 bit and 64 bit flavors and I have no issues with any software I run. The absolute biggest issue (and it's really a feature) of Vista is the UAC. Turn that off and you're golden. Also, depending on your security level in Vista, you might need to right click the application (or shortcut) and choose "run as administator". Vista is a solid and reliable OS...it's just getting the bad wrap that XP did when it came out. Most Vista issues are easily solved with a little knowledge of Vista (like XP was in the beginning).

| There are a few softwares which I need to try with. Autodesk Civil 3D 2006 is one of them. The website says they are incompatible with Vista. No solutions/patches availbale. But even more old, Autocad 2004 has no problems. This installs well. But stop working at start up. Edit: Thanks loydering and PunK3D. The above link gave more info. but not any happy news. Read follow, USER BEWARE: CHECK WITH YOUR SYSTEM MANUFACTURER WHETHER OR NOT YOUR WARRANTY IS VOIDED IF YOU INSTALL AND DUAL BOOT WITH WINDOWS XP. MANY OF THE NEWER SYSTEMS ARE DESIGNED AND CONFIGURED TO ONLY RUN WINDOWS VISTA. HARDWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM MAY NOT BE DESIGNED TO RUN WINDOWS XP. My system falls in that category. The HP pavilion website says "Pavilion and Presario" are dedicated to Vista!! Install XP at your own risk!!! NOW WHAT?

Well it looks as if the only thing left to do is set out to destroy the evil that is the Microsoft coperation.

Waaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttt!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT FIRE Microsoft!!!!It works....!!!! Thanks TWhite. Your tip is the golden one! I tried the "run as administrator" option and all are working including Civil3D 2006! (A message box appears regarding incompatibility, but I chose run program) Now Vista rocks!!
