It doesn't look like I will be finishing this in time for the Evermotion competition so, I will post it here.

Ok. So, I rendered the above renders at work. Yeah. I needed a break from the Photosim I was doing. *ahem* ...

Now, I am rendering them on my 4.5 year old computer. Max 2008 and VRay 1.5 RC3. My scene is uber dark now ... 0_O .. ARGH! Is there something that is different between the two versions? Not sure what version of VRay we are using at work.

Does it matter that I am using a Spotlight with VRay shadows?

EDIT: Ok, I gave up on the Spotlight and used the VRaySUN. Oy. Guess I need to learn how to use it at some point!

Your computer at home probably doesn't have the Gamma settings in MAX set up right.

I fixed them now. Still looks weird. Not gonna finish this in time for the deadline but, still fun.

Funny.  I saw that someone submitted this model for CG Architect's 2009 Architectural 3D Awards.  Hopefully it was the guy who actually built it...

I suppose it could be. I think it was an Evermotion model, then a free Evermotion model for use with their last contest.

I got a ways on mine, but also never really had time to finish it up.

I'll dig up the renders from how far I was.

Hey, I just noticed that your water could use more reflection.  The shadow shouldn't show so much on the surface...

Oooh ... true. I think I have revised the water since then. I obviously missed the deadline on this ... oy. But, I will work on it more later this week (and update the water if I havent).

Here's all the further I got on mine. About 10% for the exterior and 2% on the interior. It was an interesting contest because there was no post-work allowed. Your entry pretty much had to be what came out of the render buffer:

It was an interesting competition. Makes me sad that I didn't finish. I did, however, come in late.

Yours looks nice! I dont remember seeing it in the forum?
