Recently Autodesk has opened up certification to 3ds Max users with the Associate and Professional certification levels in Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2010.  To find out more about the exams and to download an Exam Guide, visit:

So for those of us who have used nothing but VRay for the last few years, how tricky are the questions that deal with the non-vray items we maybe aren't used to?

i.e ProMaterials, Arch + Design materials, all the updated daylighting/lighting analysis stuff, exposure, etc.

Without going into details, it's not terrible.  In my experience and from others I've talked to who have taken any Autodesk certification test, the Associate was the hardest.  Mostly impart to being a test of your memory of Max.  In the Professional you are actually in product, so everything is right in front of you so long as you know where to look.

The Exam Guide gives you rough areas to study.  It lists daylighting and Pro materials, so you can pretty much count on something about those. Apparently there is (or will be) a practice test that you can take online to give you a flavor of the type of questions on the exam.

It's a nice feather in your hat and can go with you outside of your current company if you plan to teach Max classes or do some freelance work.

Yes, I saw the tidbit about a practice exam. I have searched for it with no luck. Does anyone know where that can be found? Thanks

This is the only reference material I've seen:

http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/autodesk_3dsmax_2010_exam-guide_0709_env3s.pdf

Which has one obsure autocad question:

Other than that their only advice is to buy the Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2010: Essentials book and go over the exam objectives list.

It is an online test.  You would need to search your local area for someone to proctor the exam.  Usually it's trough a training center.  If not, we'll just have to find an excuse to get you over here!
