Has anyone had the issue where they cant rename layers in max? I think i've encountered it in max 8 aswell - I can select the layer, and when i click to rename it - any letter I type is still issuing commands to max etc i type shift-T for a caps T but get the Asset Tracker and so on - it only pops up every now and then, anyone know what this might be caused by?

I'm not in front my computer right now but, there is something called "keyboard override" or something like that....it might be under the tools drop down or a icon somewhere....click that and it should fix your problem....maybe...

Ok, I'm in front of my computer now...the icon is on the "Extras" toolbar as for a drop down location....I can't seem to find one.

Again I don't even know if this is will fix your issue...I'm just guessing. When ever I have a shortcut or keyboard issue I just click on that icon and it seems to fix it...until the next time....

I've had this problem before and I don't think the Keyboard Shortcut Override works to solve it. I haven't been able to narrow down exactly why it does what ti does, but yes. It's VERY annoying. What seems to be happening is that the window focus doesn't get shifted to the Layer Manager window, so the typed commands go to the main Max window.
The 'easy' workaround is to call up the layer's properties by clicking the stack icon in the layer manager and renaming it there.

Ah yeah, thanks Tom, didnt think of that. Its a bit of a pain when it happens and it seems to go away when i reset max. But like you said, i got no idea what will fix it or whats causing it.

Chris, I'll give that a shot next time it happens. Thanks
