Does anyone know what software pb has or is available that is suitable for importing and manipulating Point Cloud Lidar data.

I quickly quizzed one of the GIS guys here and to date we've only ask for pre-processed Lidar data in the form of a dxf or what not.

Apparently the new version of ArcGIS that is being shipped at the moment will support point cloud data but to what extent I dont know.

There is a demo version of this software available.

I have just downloaded the free demo cloudpeak software and it seems prety good. I would be interested on how we could utilise the data for design work.

Has anyone got any comments on point cloud data verses traditional suvey data, in terms of the best time/project to use these types of data.
