This is the View that runs inside MAX.  Apparently it won't even work with scan line rendering.  Sure we could render out the sky environment and load in back into the scene, but the vegitation doen't look like it will port for other render engines.

Too bad.  It looks awesome!

I watched Eon's whole presentation on the Vue6 Extreme at the last SIGGRAPH, and it's as slick as it looks. The guy was rendering several millions (or was it billions(?!) of polygons worth of vegetation directly within Max in under a minute, with almost no additional overhead within the Max scene. Max basically XRefs (for lack of a better description) the entire Vue renderer into the Max scene at render time.

It is for mental ray only, but I would think these guys must be getting tons of requests to port it for VRay...

We are looking at getting a few copies of this vue 6 xstream software but I have just found that Botanics have released a new feature called Landsim 3D http://www.bionatics.com/ just wondering if there are any pit falls or pros for either one ....... Im tempted to go with Vue as we as using mental ray anyway ?!?!?!

That Bionatics software looks pretty awesome.

...Unfortunately... We've tried to use Nat FX both here and in Denver and have failed miserably both times. The program is pretty buggy and we've never really had it work correctly and when it does, it's fairly unstable. I have a request in to try this new software as we do a LOT of GIS based mapping and simulation here, so this might be just what the doctor ordered!

I'll be sure to post our results here as soon as we get some!
